英語の読解力の向上のために英文法を避けて通ることは不可能です。私も英文法は嫌いでしたが洋楽を聴くことが好きで、関東在住の頃はFENを聴いたり、ビルボードのランキング番組を聴いて歌詞の和訳に興味が芽生えて文法を勉強するようになりました。このブログは洋楽に興味を持つ方々を考えて作っています。英文法の知識に動詞の理解は必須です。難しい単語より簡単な単語の用法の知識を拡げてゆくことをお勧めします。「take」は以前に紹介しましたが、今回は「get」を取り上げます。楽曲中にも登場しましたが、「get」の用途はとにかく広く理解できると一気に英語力が向上するでしょう。「get」の和訳を「手に入れる」だけの理解ではもったいないです。
「イエスタデイ・ワンス・モア」の歌詞に登場する「get to」は「到着する」と理解できます。和訳では、「get to the part」を「この部分に差し掛かる」としました。洋画でも頻繁に登場します。「can」同様に「～できる」とも和訳できますし、「（機会を得る」と訳される場合もあります。目的地に到着するという意味でも使われます。英和辞典で例文を調べてみましょう。難しい単語より「get」の用途を知る方が有益と考えます。用途が広いほかの動詞も順次案内してゆきます。
