英文法一つだけ学びましょう（ワンポイントgrammer） 第１6回 動詞「hold」
英文法の能力を向上させるために動詞の用法の理解を深めることを推奨してきました。「HERE COMES THE SUN 」での「say / tell / talk / speak」の使い分けに始まり、
「シング」では使役動詞「let」、「YOU RAISE ME UP」では「動作動詞と状態動詞」、「 I WRITH THE SONGS」では、使役動詞 「make」、
「OVER THE RAINBOW」では、「wish / hope / want」の用法、
「JUST THE WAY YOU ARE（素顔のままで）」の中では「take」をそれぞれ取り上げてきました。今回は「hold」を取り上げます。英和辞典ジーニアスによると「hold」の原義は「見張る、所有する、保つ」とあります。
他動詞として
1．SV-O（人が）（物）を持っている／握っている／掴んでいる／抱く／抱きかかえる
